It's my great pleasure to be your current president of Study Abroad Student Society. My family is originally from China and I was born there too. I grew up, however, mostly in New Zealand. So I do consider myself as much Kiwi as I consider myself Chinese. I love sports, especially basketball and swimming. And support the Lakers almost religiously. Growing up in New Zealand has made me love playing and watching rugby as well. I love meeting people from different cultures and backgrounds. I think it’s one of the most precious things to be able to connect with people who have had different experiences due to differences in culture and to understand their perspective to life. I am generally outgoing and love to chat and make new friends! I am looking forward to meeting you and getting to know you and the experiences you have had that bought you to where you are now.
I love to travel because I get to meet so many different people, with their own unique experiences, so there is always something to learn. I have spent a semester at Lund University in Sweden and worked in Jakarta, Indonesia. I’ve been lucky enough to travel to 24 countries in my 22 years and one consistency is that it is the people that make the place. I cannot live without hockey, play the ukulele and violin in my spare time and enjoy hiking.
Hi! I am currently in my last year of University studying a conjoint in BCom/BSci, majoring in accounting, information systems, and computer science. Last year I went on exchange to Canada, which has been one of the best decision I've made in University. I love going on adventures, travelling the world and making new friends!
Hello! I did my study abroad semester during the middle of last year at the University of Virginia, in which I was lucky enough to explore Charlottesville as well as take the opportunity to travel along both the east and the west coast in the U.S. I thoroughly enjoyed being immersed in the hugely diverse American culture and meeting people from all walks of life :) Studies and travels aside, I love creating music, baking souffle pancakes, and stargazing. Looking forward to meeting all you lovely exchange students, whether you are incoming or outgoing!
Hi I'm Sue! I am a fourth year BA/BCOM student. I went on exchange last year to the University of British Columbia in Canada! I had a super fun time and hope to make your exchange just as (if not more!!) fun! Can't wait to help you guys explore NZ!
Being born and raised in a small country town in the South Island of New Zealand, means that nothing more excites me than the thrill of adventure and getting out and exploring new cultures and places. Having recently returned from a semester abroad at the University of Exeter in England and galavanting around Europe, I am beyond excited to be showcasing our beautiful country to our members. Its safe to say that I’m your stereotypical Kiwi. You’ll be sure to find me watching a bit of sport with a drink in one hand and chips and dip in the other.
Hi, I'm a 5th year engineering/commerce conjoint studying information systems, finance and civil engineering. I have been fortunate enough to spend a semester abroad at the University of California, Berkeley. I am always keen to meet new people from all walks of life and learn about their experiences.
As with most people in this club, travelling has been one of the most interesting and influential parts of my life. In 2019, I was lucky enough to spend two semesters abroad studying at the University of South Carolina and The Chinese University of Hong Kong through the Global Business and Innovation Programme. I have visited 28 countries, with Italy, Greece, and Myanmar up there as favourites. I love meeting people from all walks of life, taking chances, football, and going out and having a drink with friends. My advice after spending time studying and living overseas is that when you’re young, do as much as you can and don’t stop.
Hi, I'm currently in my fourth and last year of university studying accounting and finance. I spent a semester at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. I enjoy travelling and meeting new people.
